Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss, Ellen DeGeneres Show DJ Dead at 40 By Suicide

Stephen “tWitch” Boss, the dancer-turned-DJ for The Ellen DeGeneres Show, passed away on December 13. 

tWitch Boss was 40. It appears that Boss committed suicide, according to several reports.

iexclusivenews understands that he was discovered in a hotel room in Los Angeles, according to TMZ

According to reports, his wife Allison Holker told police that he had recently left home without his car, which was something he didn’t typically do.

Holker confirmed the news to People in a statement. “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us,”

She said. “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”

“To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt,” she continued. “I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children. Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”

DeGeneres honored Boss in an Instagram post.

“I’m heartbroken,” she wrote. “tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him.”

Boss initially applied for season three of So You Think You Can Dance in 2007, but she was not selected for the top 20.

He auditioned again the following season, when he finished as runner-up. He stayed on the program for several more seasons after that. Boss started DJing for Ellen in 2014.

He got along well with the host and frequently filled in for her when she wasn’t there. She appointed him an executive producer in 2020, and he remained on the show through its conclusion this past May.

Additionally, he announced the games on Ellen’s Game of Games. He hosted The Real Dirty Dancing, a new Fox series, earlier this year.

Boss wed Holker, a fellow So You Think You Can Dance contestant, in 2013.

From 2017 to 2020, they co-hosted Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings. Just a few days after their ninth wedding anniversary on December 10, Boss passed away.
