Twitter Reacts As FG Lifts Ban After Seven Months

Twitter has expressed its happiness at the fact that their microblogging platform is now available in Nigeria.

iexclusive News Nigeria After more than 220 days, the Federal Government decided to lift the prohibition.

The decision was verified by Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, Chairman Technical Committee Nigeria-Twitter Engagement and Director-General National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

Kashifu said in an Abuja statement on Wednesday that the authorisation came after the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Ali Ibrahim, wrote a message to President Muhammadu Buhari.

“We are glad that Twitter has been restored for everyone in Nigeria,” The Tech giant announced in a tweet via its @Policy handle. Our objective in Nigeria and around the world is to contribute to public discourse.

“In Nigeria, where people use Twitter for business, cultural engagement, and civic participation, we are firmly committed.”
