How Gunmen Abducted Policeman For Dressing Elegantly
Gunmen kidnapped a mobile policeman assigned to “Operation Farauta,” a special task force tasked with combating kidnapping in Adamawa State.
iexclusive News Nigeria reports that according to sources, the policeman, who is from Mubi, a major town in Adamawa’s northern region.
He was assigned to the Mayo-Belwa local government as part of efforts to combat kidnapping, which has become common in the area around Mayo-Belwa.
“Operation Farauta” is a joint team of police, soldiers, and local hunters formed in Adamawa State to combat rising incidents of insecurity perpetrated primarily by a youth gang known locally as the Shilla Boys.
The MOPOL’s kidnapping, on the other hand, is said to be a case of mistaken identity.
It was learnt Monday morning that gunmen who stormed Mayo-Belwa in a convoy of motorcycles around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday were on the trail of a wealthy man in the Idi Bage area.
“The man whom the gunmen were looking for owned a mansion beside the Mayo-Belwa-Jalingo highway and is known to always dress immaculately,” a source said.
“Fortunately for him, he was not dressed elegantly on that fateful day, but had changed into a casual local dress.”
“Unfortunately, the MOPOL who was dressed in an expensive-looking flowing gown for Christmas was mistaken for the rich man.”
DSP Suleiman Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa State, confirmed the abduction in a phone call with DAILY POST on Monday afternoon.
“Yes, it is true,” Nguroje said. While he was relaxing with his friends, the officer was swooped on and taken away.”
He stated that the state Police Commissioner, CP Adamu Barde, has ordered a search for the abducted officer and the abductors.
