NDA Attack: Confusion Over Whereabouts Of NAF Sgt. Solomon

The whereabouts of Torsabo Solomon, a Nigerian Air Force Sergeant who was purportedly seized by military authorities on Monday in connection with the August attack on the Nigerian Defence Academy, are unknown (NDA).

Following a request from military authorities in Kaduna, he was alleged to have been arrested on the instructions of the Base Commander, 153 BSG Yola, Adamawa State.

Bandits had attacked the NDA in August, killing two soldiers and abducting one other, who was later rescued.

Reports said the sergeant attached to the Air Force Comprehensive School, Yola, was airlifted to Kaduna in a military plane with registration number NAF 930 at 8:15 am to undergo further interrogation in respect of arms and ammunition used in the Kaduna NDA attack.

But yesterday, the NDA in a press release by its Public Relations Officer, Major Bashir Jajira, denied that Solomon was in their custody.

He stated that the academy is a military training institution and not an investigative security agency, advising the public to disregard the misinformation and refer to relevant agencies for clarification.

The statement read, “The attention of the Nigerian Defence Academy has been drawn to a viral publication on social media regarding the arrest of one Sgt Torsabo Solomon for his involvement in the security breach in Nigerian Defence Academy and was conveyed to the Academy for investigation.

“This is to inform the general public that the above-named person is not in the Nigerian Defence Academy’s custody as alleged and has no connection with the academy. The Nigerian Defence Academy is a military training institution and not an investigative security agency. The general public is hereby advised to disregard this misinformation and refer to relevant investigative security agencies for clarification.

“The Nigerian Defence Academy wishes to reassure the general public that the perpetrators of the security breach on the Nigerian Defence Academy architecture will sooner rather than later be apprehended.”
