Nnamdi Kanu: I was Arrested, Tortured in Kenya For 8 Days
Nnamdi Kanu, the arrested leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has revealed details of his capture and alleged mistreatment by the Kenyan authorities.
According to iexclusive News Nigeria, he revealed the information to his defense attorney, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor.
The lawyer who met the IPOB leader in the custody of the Department of State Service, DSS, said his client was arrested and detained by Kenya’s Special Police Force for eight days before being handed over to their Nigerian equivalent.
iexclusive News Nigeria recalls that the DSS previously allowed Kanu’s legal team to visit the fugitive where he is being held.
Shortly after the visit on Friday evening, Ejiofor stated that his client was jailed and abused in Kenya until last Sunday, when he was flown back to the country.
His Facebook statement stated as follows:
“Update on today’s meeting with MNK, July 2nd, 2021:
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, my client, was kidnapped by the abominable Kenyan Special Police Force on June 18, 2021, at their International Airport, and brought to a secret location under inhumane conditions.
He was tortured and subjected to inhumane treatment, which exacerbated his health condition.
He was unlawfully imprisoned in Kenya* for eight (8) excellent days before being transferred to their Nigerian equivalent.
He was allegedly investigated on a bogus charge while in their custody, reportedly awaiting release after their investigations showed him free of all the false claims. They later summoned their Nigerian counterparts to take over.
Before the illegal handover to their Nigerian equivalent, the Kenyan government was deeply implicated in my Client’s kidnapping, incarceration, and ill-treatment.
A scan of his heart revealed that his heart had enlarged by 13% as a result of the inhumane treatment he received. He will require quick proper medical examination and attention.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu sent a message of goodwill to all IPOB family members around the world, asking for your unending prayers.
We’re going back to the Court to get what we need. Other specifics cannot be discussed at this time.
