Ohanaeze Warns Mallami Over Plan To Deploy Tucano Jets To South-East 

Mr. Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation, has been warned by Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, against any proposal to deploy the newly acquired Tucano jets to the South-East zone.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that the warning came after Malami gave a press conference in which he detailed purported security breaches by the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB.

It has now been characterised by Ohanaeze as the latest attempt to legitimize the deployment of fighter jets to the South-East zone, where the IPOB is clamoring for secession.

Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Secretary-General of the Chidi Ibeh-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo, made the statement.

“Malami is setting the ground for the reason for the deployment of the acquired Tucano Fighter Jets to the southern region of the country,” he stated in the statement.

“The Federal Government has finalized plans to deploy Super Tucano fighter jets in the Southeast.”

“We are raising this alarm because it looks like a plan to invade the South East in the name of combatting terrorism has been finalized, but they should reconsider the lives of innocent civilians who are threatened by these preparations.”

The Ohanaeze scribe questioned why the Federal Government had taken so long to declare bandits and Fulani herders terrorists.

“We are aware of the constraints related to the acquisition of the Tucano Jets, which were limited to the North-East Boko Haram terrorists,” he continued.

“What Malami is trying to do today is persuade the world that the IPOB is a terrorist organization, and then unleash the jets on the South-East, annihilating the Igbos completely.” This is unacceptably bad.

“We are urging President Buhari not to send any Tucano jets to the South-East,” says the group. Before any deployment to the South-East, we feel that bandits who shot down military planes and shot at the Abuja/Kaduna train should be labeled terrorists.”

iexclusive News Nigeria learned that before the procurement of the jets, the Federal Government and the United States agreed that they would be used to combat Boko Haram militants in the country’s north-east.
