While the Nigerian government opposed the UAE’s introduction of the COVID-19 quick antigen test, the Middle Eastern country objected to the Nigerian government’s requirement for travelers entering the African nation to have a negative PCR test.
The authorities initially scheduled the restart of flights for Wednesday, June 23, 2021.
However, the airline stated on Monday that the UAE reversed course with a new travel advisory indicating that Lagos and Abuja flights would not resume on Wednesday as previously scheduled.
“In accordance with government directions, passenger flights to and from Nigeria (Lagos and Abuja) have been halted until further notice beginning 21 June 2021.
“Customers travelling to and from Lagos and Abuja will be denied transportation.
“Customers who have travelled to or connected through Nigeria in the last 14 days are not permitted to board flights to the UAE from any other point,” the announcement added.
