Brent Renaud American journalist Killed By Russian forces In Ukraine

Brent Renaud, 50, was shot dead Sunday near Kyiv, Regional Police Chief Andriy Nebytov confirmed

iexclusivenews reports that the Russia-Ukraine war has claimed the life of an award-winning American journalist Brent Renaud.

“US citizen Brent Renaud paid with his life for trying to highlight the aggressor’s ingenuity, cruelty, and ruthlessness”, Nebytov wrote.

The deceased was in a vehicle with an injured photojournalist, Juan Arredondo, and a Ukrainian driver.

The Colombian photojournalist, who is still receiving treatment, described how they were attacked while crossing the first bridge at Irpin.

He explained that they were planning to film other refugees leaving the area when they were given a ride in a car.

“As we crossed the checkpoint, they started shooting at us. The driver turned around, but they kept shooting. My friend Brent Renaud was shot in the neck”, Arredondo said.

Renaud collaborated on a documentary about the worldwide refugee crisis in Ukraine with Time Studios.

On his death, Time Editor-in-Chief Edward Felsenthal and Time President Ian Orefice released a joint statement.

“Our hearts are with all of Brent’s loved ones. It is essential that journalists are able to safely cover this ongoing invasion and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine”, they said.

Renaud, a former New York Times contributor, was wearing a badge issued by the newspaper for an assignment years ago when he died.
