A New High at TD Garden
On an undisclosed date, Touring Data revealed that Burna Boy had outdone his previous year’s performance by amassing a staggering $1.593 million, equivalent to over N2 billion, at his concert held at TD Garden in Boston on March 2, 2024.
This achievement has been hailed as the most lucrative arena concert by an African artist in the history of the United States, surpassing his own record at Madison Square Garden in 2022.
The ‘I Told Them’ Tour Phenomenon
Burna Boy’s ‘I Told Them‘ tour has been a resounding success, selling out venues like Scotiabank Arena, Montreal, Toronto in Canada, Boston in the US, and Cologne in Germany.
Touring Data’s figures show that the tour sold over 124,706 tickets, averaging $93.50 each, culminating in an impressive revenue of $11,659,531, or about N16 billion.
From ‘City Boys’ to Stadium Sensation
Following the release of his much-awaited “City Boys” music video, Burna Boy embarked on the ‘I Told Them’ tour, produced by Live Nation.
The 16-city journey commenced on November 3 at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, marking his inaugural stadium performance in the city.
The tour spanned various American metropolises, concluding in Atlanta at State Farm Arena on March 9th.
Trailblazing Performances Across Continents
Prior to this tour, Burna Boy had already made waves with a sold-out event at Citi Field, New York, becoming the first Nigerian artist to headline a stadium in the US.
His performance attracted over 40,000 fans, including notable figures like Busta Rhymes, SZA, NBA’s Mo Bamba, NFL’s Larry Ogunjobi, and British rapper Dave, who joined him for a rendition of “Location.”
Historic Headlines and Chart-Topping Success
Burna Boy continued to break records with his London Stadium show, becoming the first African headliner, and replicated this success at Madison Square Garden.
His latest album, ‘I TOLD THEM,’ debuted at #1 on the UK Albums chart, a first for an international African artist.
