Sunday Igboho: Ooni Of Ife Constitutes Committee, Rallies Yoruba Leaders

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enita Ogunwusi, has formed a 28-man committee to discuss the circumstances surrounding Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho’s imprisonment.

This online news outlet recalls that Igboho has been at the vanguard of Yoruba ethnic group’s fight for self-determination in recent months.

iexclusive News Nigeria reported that Interpol detained Igboho on Tuesday in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

The Ooni of Ife, one of the first-class monarchs in South-West Nigeria, has, nevertheless, formed a committee to investigate the incident.

The committee is made up of significant figures from the South West.

Professor Akin Osuntokun serves as the committee’s co-ordinator.

Oba Olusola Alao, the Olugbon of Igbon, Senator Biodun Olujimi, Toyin Saraki, Segun Awolowo, Doyin Okupe, Chief Gbenga Daniel, and Mr Muyiwa Ige are also members of the committee.

On Thursday, sources at the monarch’s palace confirmed the committee’s formation to the DAILY POST.

“The Ooni of Ife established an advisory committee made up of prominent Yoruba sons and daughters from across the political spectrum. It’s known as the Ooni Caucus.

“The inauguration ceremony was planned over a month ago, and it was purely coincidental that it coincided with rumors of Sunday Igboho’s arrest in Cotonou.

“However, the council is keenly interested in the new development and will respond appropriately in the near future.”
